The main wing of this exceptional historic house has been transformed into stylish holiday accommodation, with all the luxurious comforts of modern life provided within a timeless and characterful setting. Guests staying at The Cochrane Wing have the privilege of staying in the heart of Athelhampton House, and can explore the 20 acres of grounds, and arrange for a private tour of the public visitor rooms and displays.

The generous accommodation consists of a private wing of the main house, situated over three floors, making it ideal for friends or family. Original features including beautiful timber panelling and ornamental fireplaces have been showcased alongside contemporary styling to create a truly special holiday home. Every bedroom has the advantage of a luxury en-suite bathroom or shower room. The modern kitchen with dining table is well equipped for all your catering needs. There is a courtyard with garden furniture leading to the private entrance to the accommodation, and ample parking is also provided. Athelhampton House has an on site cafe/restaurant which is open during the day to the visiting public, and there is a calendar of events including theatre productions which take place within the main house.

As well as being able to enjoy the outstanding gardens during your stay, The Cochrane Wing is also well located for trips to the Jurassic Coast including iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Just two minutes by car is the village of Puddletown with a well-stocked shop and pub; and nearby is the village of Tolpuddle with its famous Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum. The historic county town of Dorchester with its shops, restaurants, cinemas and museums, is just a short drive away, and the Isle of Purbeck with iconic Corfe Castle is just a pleasant drive away.

The Athelhampton Estate now benefits from Solar electricity generation with battery storage and ground source heating as part of their project to become carbon neutral.

There is an abundance of activities on offer locally, with the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site within close reach, where you will find breath-taking scenery, beautiful beaches and fantastic walks, including the iconic Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

The neighbouring village of Puddletown, just two minutes away by car, offers a well-stocked shop and village pub, The Blue Vinny.

Just under 2 miles away is the famous Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum and it tells the tale of the Martyrs arrest, trial and punishment, leading to the foundation of modern day trade unionism.

The county town of Dorchester is approx a 15 minute drive away with its large selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, museums and two cinemas.

Dorset is Thomas Hardy country and a visit to Hardy's Cottage just a few miles away is one of the many National Trust properties in the area to explore - Max Gate, the former Victorian home of Thomas Hardy and designed by him is situated on the outskirts of Dorchester.

Enjoy some great family time at Monkey World or the Tank Museum, at Bovington with its thrilling live displays.

Athelhampton House with its cafe, restaurant and impressive garden is a must see for all guests staying on the estate in either The Cochrane Wing or at nearby River Cottage where separate accommodation can be booked subject to availability.
